Common Questions ...

Often, when people make an enquiry about a cake or cupcakes, we both have a lot of questions.  I have tried to address some of those below, but please, feel free to ask as many questions as you need - just pop me an email or call.

How much will it cost?

This is probably the first question you have - you've seen a cake you like the look of, or you have one pictured in your head, but how much will it cost?

Such a simple question, but actually quite a difficult one to answer because the cost of the cake depends on a lot of factors: how big do you want your cake to be; what flavour; what type of icing; what is the overall design of the cake.  Once we have these details, we can then come up with a price, based on cost of ingredients, packaging and the time it will take me to create your cake(s).

Buttercream cakes start at around £50 for my smallest size of 6 inches.  As the size of the cake goes up, or the more details added, the price will go up too.  Please do remember that cakes take time to make and decorate, especially models, so please bear this in mind when receiving your quote.  Thank you.

Cupcakes are around £2.50 - £3.00 per cupcake, so for a minimum order of 12, these would be £30 - £35.

What size cake do I need?

In order to make sure you have enough cake for all your guests, we need to decide on what size you need.

When deciding this, I use traditional cake charts as well as from my own experience and the height of my cakes (usually around 4.5 - 5 inches tall).  This is based on how big each slice of cake is,  but for most of us, we all have different perspectives on how big a slice should be - for my two young children, I generally cut very thin slices, but for my husband - well - he likes cake, so he usually gets quite a wedge!

Below is a rough guide that I use.

6 inch: 8-12 slices

7 inch: 12-18 slices

8 inch: 20-24 slices

9 inch: 24-32 slices

I'm always open to feedback too, so please do get in touch.
